Sarah’s homepage

Sarah louise yagi
May I introduce the “real” Louanne. Somehow throughout the
years, I seem to have gathered quite a few names, among them ‘louanne’,
under which name I have been posting poems online since 2005,
when I began to seriously write poetry. Before that, I posted a
few poems under the pseudonym of Tonya Roberts, which name I
chose after my father’s stage name, Tony Roberts. Dad was a
tenor, and I thought he would be pleased if I chose that name.
Then there is Sally, the nickname given me from my birth and
which family and old friends still call me. I could go on, but
to assure you and myself that I am not having an identity
problem, I feel it is time for me to choose a single name,
especially now that I have been published. What better choice
than my given names – Sarah Louise. Why not? Sarah means
‘princess’ and I like that. It is also a good biblical name,
having been the name of Abraham’s wife. So, with your
permission, I will now refer to myself as Sarah onsite, and for
a while, until I find out how to change my bio, I shall sign my
name Sarah (louanne). Thanks for bearing with me and for your
cooperation.
Memphis Magic
Memphis brought so much more
than I imagined it would. None of that uncomfortable feeling
that sometimes accompanies entering a room fool of strangers,
wondering how you will fit in or worrying that you won’t fit in
at all. Just an instant feeling of recognition as one or the
other of us approached the booth with that questioning smile.
“Let’s see. Who can this be?” “Oh, it has to be John or Donna
or…!” Then came the instant embrace of old friends. How great
is that?
We were so proud of our
readers. I had to search for my handkerchief more than once to
wipe away the tears that flowed at poignant moments, but more
than that, hearing our poets read their work gave me inspiration
and a desire to continue to write, to leave behind something of
myself to posterity.
For me, personally, Memphis
brought back precious moments. It started with the trolley.
Just riding on that tram and walking down Beale Street
transported me in thought to our honeymoon city and Basin
Street, Pat O’Brien’s, Al Hirt’s (he was actually still there)
and the Court of the Three Sisters. One afternoon near the
outside stage, Anne Buck offered me a bit of a funnel cake that
brought back the unforgettable taste of the beignets at Café du
Monde, so not only did I enjoy Memphis, but savored the
nostalgic memories of old New Orleans.
My books coming soon…
Despite a busy summer, Romantic Moments, my second book, is at
last at the printer’s and will be ready in a few weeks! The
good news is the CD, which I recorded in May in Torino, Italy,
with Paolo Volante on piano, has arrived. I hope you will want
to read my book and/or listen to me reading my thoughts and
poems on love. To order the book or CD or for further
information, e-mail
editscribe@yahoo.co.jp or PM Sarah (louanne). For e-mail,
please write ‘via EP’ in the subject line, so I won’t confuse it
with all the junk mail I have been receiving.
I’ll be back in Osaka on November 16th, but thanks to
the Internet, I will still be with you as always. Thank
you all, my friends, for being here, for your constructive
reviews which have helped me to hone my poems and for your
writing, which has inspired me and taught me so much. Till
next, time,
Ciao,
Sarah (October 20, 2006)
