"My church
has nominated me toe be Poet Laureate of Maine. The
honorary post is held for five years, and the current
poet laureate's term ends this month. There was an ad
on public radio, heard by somebody in the church office,
and they got people to write letters (very nice
letters). I don't think there is a chance in a million
that I would be selected as Maine's poet laureate."

Favorite poet: William Wordsworth (My wife gave me a leather
bound set of 2nd edition complete works of Wordsworth for a
wedding present 42 years ago.)
Favorite poem: "Michael" by Wm. Wordsworth (a long narrative
poem)
Favorite quote: "There is a tide in the affairs of men which,
taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage
of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries."
Most admirers: Jimmy Carter
Been writing poetry since June, 2003
The inspiration for my writing comes from family, memories of my
family on our farm in Rumford in the foothills of the White
Mountains in Maine where we raised our kids, an infatuation with
time.
I was a high school principal in Maine for 23 years; am a
professor of educational leadership for the last eleven years at
the University of Southern Maine. Was diagnosed with Parkinson's
seven years ago. Doing OK.
Married my high school sweetheart who is still the apple of my
eye and the focus of my being.
Two kids, a sons 39 and a daughter 37 (who lives with her
husband and our two granddaughters right across the road. What a
life!)
My warm weather hobby is gardening and landscaping.
Cold weather hobby is making toy pewter soldiers.
