‘Just a Country Western lyricist from Texas, with some songs fermenting in Nashville.

Early influences: Poe, Robert Louis Stevenson, Mark Twain, The Beatles, The Romper Room Clown

Born in 1953, I also recall the hippie era, during 1968, when my English professor accused me of writing like “Bxb  Dxxxn”. She smiled, although I wasn’t inspired by her accusatory remark, until I had at least learnt who in the heck this “Bob” feller’ WAS ! ( THE AUTHOR’S  NAME IS  MANTLED  WITH  MYSTERY TO TRANSUDE THE VISUAL  ASPECT OF SELF  MODESTY ).

My first C & W song lyric was written for Tin Pan Alley in my senior year of High School.  Mostly what I write is generally adaptable to a musical arrangement. When I try to compose free verse poetics, I tend to keep editing the poem, until it inadvertently mutates into a lyric, maybe due to some deeply rooted OCD tendencies. I tell myself that a song is a lyric with big dreams, and that a lyric is a poem in a Superman suit.

“We’re all ignorant- just in different subjects.”   Will Rogers

There’s an unpublished book I can’t seem to stop myself from eternally editing, which is appropriately and strategically titled, “A  Midnight Garden of  Candled Verses (and Lyrics)”,  embodying  many  unusual  photographs,  sandwiched  between each literary insertion.

I thank God for my wife, Brenda, whom daily braves her dire circumstances, and inspires my Midnight pen. __GDMartin
